5 Sensational Cuisines at Holachef!

At Holachef, we are always excited about serving something that’s off the regular menus. When we started this restaurant-in-cloud, it was partially because we wanted to eat something worth-craving-for every day. While we have been serving some extraordinary continental dishes from Indian, French, American and other cuisines; we were still looking for a larger variety which goes beyond the more well-known tastes.

Chef Bhakti Mehta, a self-taught chef who creates magic with her culinary skills in world cuisines, brings a vibrant variety to Holachef’s daily menus. Her home-style gourmet catering venture, Little Food Co, serves everything from Italian to Mexican and Asian to Mediterranean, with a touch of style and oodles of taste!

We are listing here some of the many different cuisines she has served at Holachef and a few of the dishes in each of these cuisines! Try them out when they are listed next on our menu if you are craving something exciting and different!

  1. Vietnamese

This cuisine is well known for its balance of 5 elements with 5 fundamental tastes – salty (water), sour (wood), sweet (earth), spicy (metal) and bitter (fire). Every Vietnamese dish is a combination of these tastes and appeal to the 5 senses. This food is considered to be one of the healthiest cuisines in the world – thanks to minimal oil usage and more stress on vegetables, meats, herbs and just a handful of spices.

Chef Bhakti serves Vietnamese style spring rolls, also called Vietnamese Wraps; which go well with Thai curry and rice combo to make a full meal or even with Herb Mash Cutlets, Corn and Cheese Tarts with Dip, Sandwiches, et al for an exotic snack platter which is filling and delicious.

  1. Italian

Italian cuisine is known for its simple flavors and use of only a few ingredients that are enough to churn out a hearty meal. Use of fresh fruits, vegetables, meats and home-cooked sauces is the key to great Italian cooking.

Chef Bhakti has delighted us with some enticing dishes from the comforting Italian food such as Baked Cannelloni, a hearty baked pasta preparation of cannelloni tubes cooked with fresh mushrooms and parmesan cheese in a creamy white sauce for the true Italian taste. She serves it with oven fresh garlic bread – aren’t you already drooling? She has also served many different types of cheesy pastas, a favorite being Creamy Broccoli Pasta cooked with broccoli florets in a creamy-cheesy sauce and seasoned with Italian herbs!

  1. Middle Eastern

The cuisine of Middle East makes good use of cereals, meats, vegetables, spices, olive oil and butter! Fresh parsley, thyme, garlic and mint make their way into this cuisine for their distinct flavoring. Most Middle Eastern dishes are stuffed, baked or stewed.

Chef Bhakti serves the most popular Middle Eastern meal – classic hummus made of ground chick pea with delicious falafel and pita bread on the side; accompanied by a tasty Greek salad made with tomatoes, sliced cucumbers, onion and olives, typically seasoned with salt and oregano, and dressed with feta cheese and olive oil. Her Tabouleh salad is also quite popular! She makes it with parsley, mint, tomatoes and seasoned with olive oil, lemon juice and salt.

  1. Burmese

Burmese cuisine is largely influenced by Chinese, Thai and Indian cooking styles. Fruits and vegetables are used together in many dishes. The Burmese use lots of condiments to enhance the flavor of their dishes; from sweet to savory – there’s a condiment for every taste preference.

Chef Bhakti makes delicious Khao Suey with noodles stir-fried with minced chicken, slow-cooked in creamy coconut milk, and garnished with peanuts and fried garlic to create the popular Burmese treat. The dish is drizzled with assorted condiments, chilli oil and finished with fresh coriander leaves for that perfect meal!

  1. Mexican

The Mexicans make use of beans, corn and chili pepper in their cuisine quite liberally. They also borrow some ingredients from the Spanish cuisine. The Mexican food is quite spread out and is an integral part of their culture, festivals and celebrations.

Chef Bhakti serves delicious quesadillas – flour tortillas filled with vegetables, cheese and spices; accompanied by crispy tortilla chips, to be relished with delicious salsa and sour cream. Her Mexican rice cooked with vegetables and fiery spices is another hit!
