5 International Spice Blends for Unique Flavours

The best part about cultures is their food and what goes into it. The intricate details that contribute towards making a dish successful, depend on what spices are being used. Have you ever wondered, what would Paneer Methi Malai be without kasuri methi? Or can you imagine the wonderful Italian Pasta without the authentic seasoning?

The travelers who came to India ages ago, brought a unique gift with them for us to retain over generations – spices. Thanks to them, we have a wonderful culinary culture that has continuously evolved over years. It is a delight to imagine how our ancestors and those travelers might have exchanged recipes!

This very passion for experiential cooking and bringing the global cuisine onto your plate has inspired our chefs to offer various tastes from across the world. Apart from Indian cooking, we at Holachef have made international spices a part of our elaborate menu!

  • Za’atar:
A Middle eastern herb mix made from thyme, sumac, sesame seeds and salt. Sumac brings a tangy taste to the mix and this herb blend adds a mouth-watering flavour to the kebabs that we use it in.
  • Jamaican Spice Mix:
A slightly hot mix, our chefs use it for dishes like sautéed mushrooms with Jamaican mix, Jamaican Jerk with Chicken Panini and more. It consists of all spice (pimento), scotch bonnet pepper (sweet yet spicy variety of chili), cloves, cinnamon, thyme, brown sugar, scallions, garlic and nutmeg.
  • Moroccan Spice Blend:
Cumin, ginger, salt, pepper, cloves, cinnamon, cayenne and coriander bring a unique flavour to the dishes which use this blend. Moroccan spiced chicken and cottage cheese that we serve at Holachef are worth a try!

  • Mexican Spice Mix:
All the Mexican dishes are a slightly spicy, tangy and quite similar in taste to Indian food. What goes into a Mexican spice mix? Chilli powder or flakes, garlic powder, oregano, cumin and paprika form the basics. You can add a thing or two for a different taste. We have a pretty long list under Mexican cuisine for you to order!
  • Creole Spice Blend:
An American mix influenced from various cuisines – French, African, Carribean, Portuguese, Spanish and South America – this blend brings quite a lot of flavours together. Basil, oregano, onion powder, thyme, garlic powder, pepper powder, cayenne, paprika, salt create this mix of flavours which our chefs bring to you in the form of Creole Spiced Chicken and Cottage Cheese.

Globalisation is best for us foodies! That is the very reason why we, at Holachef, strive to bring you a variety of both Indian and International dishes. Try these herbed dishes at holachef.com and tell us if you like them!
