What inspired you to become a chef? Tell us your story!

Cooking started at a very early age for me. With working parents around, it was more of a necessity at that time. Though I’m not a certified or a trained chef, my early adventures with food turned cooking into a hobby and passion that I knew I should follow.

Which celebrity chefs do you admire the most?

Chef Jehangir Mehta, chef Gordon Ramsay and chef Ajay Chopra.

Do you like to travel? What are your favorite travel destinations?

I love travelling but I don’t get the time to do so more often because of my schedule. I’m waiting explore more of my country and am planning a visit to Northern India very soon.

Which dishes do you love to cook and why?

I have a sweet tooth and that’s where my love for desserts comes from. Anything that has to do with desserts, bakery and patisserie is my favourite, especially western and French style desserts.. But if I have to choose one, it’ll have to be the classic Tiramisu.

A cooking tip that you always follow.

If I’m following a recipe, I do so thoroughly with no shortcuts, especially when it comes to baking.

What's your favorite kitchen tool?

Planetary Mixer.

If you weren't a chef, or in the food business, what would you be?

Before becoming a chef I was a lecturer, so I’d probably be doing that.

When it comes to food and cooking, what is your greatest achievement to date?

The milestone of my life and career was being a finalist in Masterchef India and being titled the dessert king. I’m looking forward to opening a patisserie of my own and plan to publish a book too.

What is that one ingredient you cannot cook without?

Basil.

Someone famous you would like to cook for?

Chef Jehangir Mehta and Barack Obama.

What would one expect to find in your refrigerator?

Fresh fruits at all times.

Which quality should a person definitely possess in order to become a professional chef?

Passion for cooking and punctuality, both for cooking and in general for life.
