Know Your Chef

What inspired you to become a chef? Tell us your story!

Apart from music, which was my first passion, hotels and their kitchens have always fascinated me. I have been exploring the art of cooking with my brother and since a very young age and the two of us found ourselves experimenting with various dishes under the supervision of a very supportive mother. I was 16 when I decided to turn my passion for cooking into a career and landed in my first job at a multi-cuisine restaurant in Vadodara. In 2008, I moved to Bangalore and since then have traveled across the country, worked in hotels, gained cooking experience and played a significant role in setting up various restaurants. Working at Sanjeev Kapoor's restaurant Hong Kong was one of my most notable career opportunities to learn and grow, prior to starting my culinary journey at Holachef.

Apart from music, which was my first passion, hotels always fascinated me - especially the kitchen. I was 16 when I decided to turn my passion for cooking into a career and landed my first job in a multi-cuisine restaurant in Vadodara. In 2008, I moved to Bangalore and joined the Vision group of restaurants for a while, followed by Mainland China in 2011. Since then I have traveled across the country, worked in hotels, gained cooking experience and opened various restaurants. Mumbai was the next logical step for me as an opportunity to work at Sanjeev Kapoor's restaurant 'Hong Kong ' presented itself. Today, I am happily working as a full time chef at Holachef.

A cooking tip/secret that you always follow?

While cooking Chinese dishes, never overheat the oil in order to preserve the flavours of garlic and ginger.
